About Us

Our movement started in the summer of 2022 in an effort to help the U.S. Senate race in Wisconsin. The group’s founder, Kate Duffy, had never been involved in politics before but found herself struggling with what was going on in the country and needing to channel her anger into action. After the overturning of Roe and an especially devastating season with mass shootings, she decided to get involved and created an Instagram account called Moms for Mandela to support the democratic candidate at the time.

The initial idea was to provide an accessible and sustainable way for friends to understand what was happening in the political world, how current elected officials were shaping policy that affected their lives and communities, and why some races were really, really important. It wasn’t long before people started sharing the content and asking how they could get involved. Turns out: moms are multifaceted, compassionate, driven individuals who just so happen to be the world’s best organizers (no surprises here). We collaborated with the official campaign to host meet and greets with the candidate, established regional leaders across the state who mobilized hundreds of moms in over a dozen Wisconsin counties in a variety of GOTV efforts, and were featured in news outlets including ABC News, Up North News, Marie Claire, and The Atlantic.

When the election was over, we knew we had built an incredible coalition of strong women who connected on shared values and an intense desire to make the world a better place for our families and communities. We wanted to keep the momentum going and in an effort to appeal to a broader audience, we started a new organization called Motherhood for Good.

We hope you join us in our endeavor to spread the idea that politics can have a prominent place in one's parenting journey. We know that moms are the busiest people on earth, so our goal is provide accessible and sustainable ways to get involved. Having pride in being well-informed, confidence to have tough conversations in your circles, and a community of women to count on, are incredibly lucky byproducts of the greater mission.

Getting involved in politics should feel empowering, not overwhelming. Your voice, story, and influence can make an enormous impact.
